Joseph Long is a Managing Director at Strategies for Wealth. As a past business owner and business leader, Joe learned first-hand in 2007-2008 through his own personal economic situation, how important it is to have your financial life in good order. Prior to joining the agency, he worked in wholesale lending and later transitioned to developing a New York City branch of a California-based legal services company; while maintaining ownership interest in a restaurant in Westchester County.
Joe was married in 2006 to his lovely wife Julia. While entrenched in a very successful career as a Whole Mortgage Lender, it wasn't until late 2006 and mid 2007 that he learned the real value of having financial balance. Six months after Joe and Julia were married they decided to buy a house. Right at the time of the closing, Joe's company went out of business on a day's notice. He was quickly recruited by a competitor, and later that month they closed on the house! Only 6 months after that, his new firm went out of business. Joe claims, "If it wasn't for having been a good saver, and being as financially protected as possible, we may not have made it through that horrible period in our lives."
Joe and Julia still live in that house in Carmel, NY with their sons, Avery & Riley. They have two Siberian Huskies (Jeter and Shadow). Joe is an avid baseball fan, as you could have guessed it from his dog's name; he is also a Yankee Fan. In his spare time, Joe enjoys playing baseball, running (2 NYC Marathons in the books) and giving back to the community (Jeter's Therapy Dog for the Good Dog Foundation).
